Training on the Risks involved in Child Marriage

STEP's Mobile Teams project recently conducted an online training on the challenges of Child Marriage in the city of Sulaimaniyah, which is in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Sixteen people attended and were made up of Government Staff from the Department of Labour and Social Affairs (DOLSA), Nursery Staff, Juvenile Police, and Civil Court staff.

The aim of this activity was to give the chance for those involved in Child Protection a space where they can access detailed information on proper methods of intervention, share their experiences, ask questions and have in-depth discussions on Child Protection issues.

Those trainings used to be conducted face to face. However, like so many different organisations STEP has had to change its working practices because of the Covid-19 virus. This has meant that STEP has shifted much of its activities on-line, so these training sessions were delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams. This has meant that the participants were still able to access information for this essential area of work.
