This year funds raised will provide early childhood development, play and educational activities for refugee children, including:
- Psychosocial activities to help children process trauma and loss
- Targeted support for children with special needs
STEP’s child-friendly centre in the camp is a place of hope and joy for the children.
We have expanded the project to include children with special needs who are often very isolated, to provide more specialised support for them and their families.
‘(My 4-year-old daughter) was very shy and withdrawn and not wanting to leave the house. Then she was assessed and agreed she could have speech support. After just 6 months she had improved dramatically and was chatting well with the family and had changed from being shy and withdrawn to being outgoing. She has changed so much…all the children in the family have benefitted so much from the team.’--Parent
